Man charged for allegedly committing indecent act on a bus

A 30-year-old Casey man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly committing an indecent act on a bus in the presence of a teenager.

About 7.15pm on 14 January 2024, a teenage girl on a bus noticed a male passenger sitting nearby committing an indecent act.

The teenager captured the incident on video and the matter was reported to police that evening.

Police also obtained CCTV footage from the bus of the incident and began making enquiries into his identity.

About 7pm last night (Wednesday, 16 October 2024), officers attended the Gungahlin Marketplace following reports that a man was looking into change rooms in a store.

The man was identified using CCTV footage from the January 14 incident and he was arrested yesterday. He has been charged with committing an act of indecency on a person under 16 years.
